I’m Anabel Mendt, the artist behind ILUSTRANITA. Born and raised in Venezuela, shaped by years in Miami, and now based in Munich, my work blends my tropical roots with the magic of Bavaria.

“Anita” is the Spanish diminutive of Anabel—a warm, affectionate version of my name, and the feeling I hope my art conveys. Through tattoos, illustrations, murals and paintings, I create whimsical pieces that could have come straight out of a storybook.

Originally trained as an architect, I spent years longing for beauty beyond function alone. I came to see ornament not as “a crime,” but as part of our human desire to surround ourselves with things that make us feel good. With delicate linework, rainbow palettes and smooth color transitions, I transform personal stories into meaningful artworks.

I’m a mother, a wife, an expat and an empath, and I believe life is meant to be filled with color and joy.
